Google becomes more smart : gives Movie dates

July 12, 2012 Leave a comment

You can already do plenty of calculations and conversions right in Google’s search box, and it looks like the company’s now made it even smarter still. Searching for the title of an upcoming movie or video game plus “release date” will now instantly give you Google’s best guess for when the title will actually be released ( which i guess is apparently based on how often it’s been mentioned on certain websites).

Searches for movie and video game release dates are now showing what Google thinks is the best answer based on info that it finds on various websites. As you can see in the image above, just use the name of the movie or game and add “release date” to the query to get search results like this. Google shows what it thinks the release date will be and also lists the sources it used.

A ‘No to all’ button in Windows

February 9, 2012 1 comment

It all began the day when i was trying to copy a very huge folder with over 1000’s of files and trying to copy it into an already existing folder with a different structure or so i thought. It all began nice and easy but then it hit a reef. It encountered a folder with the same name, containing files with same name but the contents of those files were entirely different and showed me a dialog asking me whether i want to overwrite the files or let it be. It provided me with the options of ‘Yes’, ‘Yes to All’, ‘No’ or ‘Cancel’

Tech News : Google Adds Graphing Functionality To Search Results

December 28, 2011 1 comment

Remember back when you were in School, you had to deal with Functions….yeah those pesky little pipsqueaks for which you had to manually draw all those graphs. After reading this news, you will be wishing that you had this functionality back then….

So what is this exactly ?? In short, it’s a simple way to plot numerous mathematical functions and you can do it right on Google.com’s search results.

How to do it ?? Simple just go to Google.com and type in the function of your choice in the search box(You might have to write two or more sometimes). I wrote ” x^2, x*4, cos(x+1) “. Instantly, an interactive graph will pop up, complete with zoom buttons, pan options and the ability to see the x and y values for every single dot on the function’s line as can be seen in the image below. Do note that the different functions will be presented in different colors, and you can switch between them using the dropdown menu on the right.

Whether you’re a hardcore math lover, an unwilling student, or just curious to see how even mathematical functions can be fun to play with, head over to Google.com and give it a try.
