NFS MW 2012 Sensitivity Fix

Scenario : You have installed NFS Most Wanted 2012 (The Criterion Reboot) on your PC and are not satisfied with the sensitivity settings of the game….there are NONE. But you want to give the game a Shot….what do you do ??

Solution : NFS Most Wanted 2012 by Criterion is a 2012 racing video game with nonlinear gameplay, developed by Criterion Games and published by Electronic Arts. Announced on 4 June 2012, during EA’s E3 press conference, Most Wanted is the nineteenth title in the long-running Need for Speed series and was released worldwide for Microsoft Windows, PlayStation 3, Xbox 360, PlayStation Vita, iOS and Android.

Need for Speed: Most Wanted received positive reviews, which focused on the world map that blended the styles of previous Burnout and Need for Speed games, and the social features, while criticism fell on the single-player mode. Following its release, the game won several awards including the 2012 Spike Video Game Awards for Best Driving Game and was nominated for Best British Game and Best Online Multiplayer at the 2013 BAFTA Awards, and was repeatedly recognized as the best driving/racing game of 2012 by several outlets.

If you have tried playing the game on your PC, you will know that is near damn impossible to steer the cars and there is no option included for steering sensitivity, like there was in the 2005. I must say that while the Graphic quality and the array of cars in 2012 is impressive but the sensitivity and configuration of cars in 2005 version was better. Anyways, So lets fix NFS Most Wanted 2012 PC Steering Sensitivity.

What you need to do :

1. Goto My Computer- Documents-> Criterion Games-> Need For Speed(TM) Most Wanted-> Save-> 0-> Open “Controls” file with Notepad

2. Change

STEERLEFT=0,KEY_LEFT,0.00,1.00
STEERRIGHT=0,KEY_RIGHT,0.00,1.00

to

STEERLEFT=0,KEY_LEFT,0.00,3.00
STEERRIGHT=0,KEY_RIGHT,0.00,3.00

Do note that the end values in both STEERLEFT and STEERRIGHT have been changed from 1.00 to 3.00. This cuts down a lot of the over-sensitivity and made the cars respond properly for me. The numbers themselves can be set to anything you like, but the larger numbers you choose, the less sensitive the turns will become. I found 3 to be the best setting for me, experiment with various values to find your sweet spot.

Let me know if you need any help.

      That is generally the place where it should be unless you are using the exe shared by some other repacker….do you know where the saved files are being stored for your particular repack ? Try checking the nfo attached to the file, It might help you…in the absence of you providing me any details, that is…

    If you can’t see the controls file then try to open up the game and change a few button settings around. I changed a few and then set them back to what they were. Close the game and hopefully the file is there now.

      the control file is located in your game folder itself :
      game folder –> criterion games –>Need For Speed(TM) Most Wanted –> save –> 0–>controls.NFS13Save

    Change in game settings like change turn left to a and again reset. FIle should be now placed in Document\NFSMW\0\Save\Controls

    Just got NFS: Most Wanted (2012) on Steam and this was exactly what I was looking for. The file path was a little different (My Computer- Documents-> Criterion Games-> Need For Speed(TM) Most Wanted-> Save-> [LONG NUMBER HERE]-> Open “controls.NFS13Save” file with Notepad). Even in 2021 this still works and Windows Notepad saved the file correctly without adding “.txt” on the end. Started the game back up and it works very nice. Thanks Obin!
