Disable Sticky Keys Forever

December 24, 2011 Leave a comment Go to comments

Scenario :  You are playing a game (Assassin’s Creed Revelations 🙂 ) and it requires you to press shift a couple of times but at that time, the obnoxious sticky keys dialog pops up. You answer No and it goes away… but then you press again and there it is…..again….How do you make it stop ??

Solution :  You are thinking why is this functionality even there ?? Its not like someone uses it….right ?? Actually, it’s a helpful accessibility feature for some people, but for the rest of us it’s downright irritating.

So, here’s how you can disable it forever on your machine. But before that do make sure that no one is using the feature, if its a shared machine.

Go to the Ease of Access Center” link in your control panel or the link which appears on the sticky keys dialog as shown above. (But i clicked “No”….well….press shift 5 times again it will comne back…Sheesh…:P).

On that page, click on make the keyboard easier to use link. Refer above Screenshot.

Once on the new window, First make sure the boxes for “Turn on Sticky Keys” is turned off. It means that Sticky keys isnt active at the moment but it doesn’t mean the annoying popup will never trouble you. To do that, you’ll have to click on “Set up Sticky Keys”.

Once on the new window,  uncheck the box for “Turn on Sticky Keys when SHIFT is pressed five times”.

And that, my friends, is how you disable the annoying popup dialogs, note that this is for Windows 7.

Do leave a comment if you need any help.
