Tech News : Facebook implements One time Login Feature
Facebook provides a number of ways to help you protect yourself and your account, and today they have announced a new feature to make Facebook more secure. The feature they launched today is known as one-time password to make it safer to use public computers in places like hotels, cafes or airports.
Now you may ask what is a one-time password ?? A one-time password is a password which is valid for a single use and is sent to you on request, so that you can access facebook at public places and even if someone comes to know it, they wont be able to use it later. More Security.
found this on their blog.
If you have any concerns about security of the computer you’re using while accessing Facebook, we can text you a one-time password to use instead of your regular password.
Simply text “otp” to 32665 on your mobile phone (U.S. only), and you’ll immediately receive a password that can be used only once and expires in 20 minutes. In order to access this feature, you’ll need a mobile phone number in your account. We’re rolling this out gradually, and it should be available to everyone in the coming weeks.
Though this service is being implemented in U.S. only, it will soon be implemented everywhere and regular users can feel safe accessing their profile from public computers.
Yay to security!!!
