Program your PC to speak on Start Up

Scenario : It gets pretty Lonely when you startup your PC and would like it if your PC could say something to you.

Solution : While the above scenario is purely hypothetical(and also i don’t hear voices in my head….:D) but if its true for you then i would like to say..”Dude….get therapy and….a life”.

I’m a programmer and i also like to play pranks on people to boggle them (thats a bad combination :p), just to while away my time and also to stay in touch with the various languages i know….during one of those times, I was looking for a way to make the computer speak or say hello to my victim at startup and i came across this piece of code and as history knows it……put it to a good use……

The code is written in Vbscript. What it does is interact with microsoft narrator to make it speak some text you want it to.

Do the foll. :

1. Open notepad and paste the foll code in it.

Dim Words, Narrator

Words = “Hello Victim, I’m infected by virus..I will take 5 hours to Start up. Sit tight”

Set Narrator=CreateObject(“sapi.spvoice”)

Narrator.Speak Words

Replace the text between quotes in Words with the text you want your PC to speak on Startup.

Note : If the above code does not work, replace the quotes by typing them from your keyboard…..they get messed up somehow.

Another Note : Do not use “.” , it reads it as “dot”.

2. Save the above file as “Golden Words.vbs”.

3. Now to make the PC speak on startup, you will have to paste the file in the startup folder. The location of startup folder is :

Win XP : C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Start Menu\Programs\Startup

Win 7 : C:\Users\Username\AppData\Roaming\Microsoft\Windows\Start Menu\Programs\Startup

Now when the next time you start your computer, Windows will speak to you or your victim in its own computerized voice, welcoming or scaring the person as applicable….:D

Sweet….Simple….and Easy to do……thats how pranks should be…..
